The financial collapse of newspapers has left American citizens with few trustworthy sources of information to help them make responsible choices in the voting booth. At the same time, the Citizens United Supreme Court decision gave corporations and wealthy individuals literally unlimited ability to use all forms of media to influence voters.
ReVote will apply big data solutions to bring a new level of transparency to government. We will give citizens full transparency into the two dimensions of government where most corruption and deception have hidden throughout history:
- Government agency expenditures and industry recipients
- Elected representative votes
- Elected representative donations
- Elected representative investments
- Vested interests behind policies
ReVote will organize this information in an easy-to-understand taxonomy, and connect it one click away from the news citizens read, and the candidates and initiatives on the ballot.
In this way, ReVote will join the legion of digital-first ventures seeking to re-establish citizens’ ability to hold the powerful accountable.
